Shivraj’s Wardrobe

Buttface, my flatmate was in the midst of the shootout in Leopold café. Thankfully, nothing happened to him, he just fled from the place. The attack raises a lot of questions and provides no answers.

Shivraj resigned today a few hours back and took moral responsibility for the same. Modi announced a package of 0ne crore for those affected. We have been forwarding SMS’s which ask where Raj Thackeray is in the midst of all the crossfire. It read – “Where was Raj Thackeray when anonymous heroes from across the nation saved Mumbai from those vultures? Why did he not issue a diktat that he doesn’t want a Bihari or Haryanvi commando to save Mumbai?”

His supporters were quick to retort – “Because of so many outsiders are coming to Mumbai, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain law and order, so we request all outsiders to go back so we can restore peace and harmony”.

It’s been easy for us to blame the politicians, blame the media while we sit in our houses and switch from one news channel to another. Call it the generation of decadence, but I am just another Indian who cribs and cribs and blogs about it too.

There are talks of getting BJP back to power, I support the sentiments partly because I think they are the only guys who have the balls to take a tough stand on terror. Manmohan makes a call on the ISI chief to land his ass here, who agrees but later backs out. What does Manmohan do now? Nothing, frankly; he can only manage the economy and not the country.

As buttface and I talked about the encounter I realized there is so much internal shit we need to clean before we even go on to blame the Pakis. My dad had gone to vote the other day, as I casually asked him whom he would be voting for. “Only BJP!” he said.

We talk a lot about the spirit of Mumbai, but I wonder how many times it would keep resurrecting itself from the ashes. There has to be an end somewhere. I just hope this is not the straw that broke the camel’s back. Will the men in the country please stand up?

Vinni, Been discussing similar stuff.. Our politicians were bad enough . What was very pathetic was the way our media showcased the situation.. every channel getting their best journalist out to report the banal of the stuff and adding to the hurt and sentiments of viewers.. they should be dealt with too

  2. My personal opinion is that like many other Indians (which includes me too) we keep cribbing and keep playing the blame game. The politicians are idiots, Cops are incompetent, blah blah blah. If I ask myself as to what I have done - Nada. Here I am reading this blog and leaving my crappy comments and that’s it. Like me there so many other ‘Gen-X’ who discusses everything but does nothing. I am not asking them to go and become a politician or wage a personal war against Terrorism. I just want them to give it a thought as to what they can do.
How many of you have assured people - your friends in Mumbai that you’re there for them if they need anything. How many of you have even googled online to see if you can donate some amount. Don’t sacrifice your whole salary - just the next round of beer you were about to buy. How many of you lit a candle in a Church or even by your Window for those who lost their lives? My Desi Friends here in The States are better in that respect at least.

As if the damage is not enough.
Talk to someone who’s lost someone close in the recent events. In the pain of losing a loved ones you don’t care what the PM did sitting in his office. You just want get even with the mother-F***** who did this. But they’re already dead.

  3. I just read an article written by a Mumbai Times editor to our PM (posted it on my blog)..its about the same dirty tricks that the politicians are playing..
This is once again becoming a Party political issue- I just pray that Manmohan takes one stern decision against Pak now.

thats what..the feelings are the same everywhere..whether one is in mumbai..or delhi or hyderabad.
spirit of mumbai/spirit of india is an excuse to not solve anything

    Hi Vinni….

lets not keep on this blame game on and on…Things are not going to change until and unless every citizen of our country feel the same way ” that its our own home/land and we have to take care of it “. lets stop blaming the politician, news channels and other countries and work towards our responsibilities.

I admire you for having the guts to call a spade a spade, for expressing openly your opinion about political parties in a public forum.

For all the resentment of the secular but confused youth of today about RSS, they are a patriotic lot and the first to rush to a scene of emergency and most of the BJP leaders being from RSS, they can be trusted and believed to be more patriotic than the other spineless fellows who never tire of appeasing certain communities, for the sake of votes… What say?

  11. VinniNo Gravatar says:

RSS does a lot of good work but its just eclipsed with all the politics involved! what to do!
